Well i broke down and bought a 36" beckett with dual injectors rated for 450 gal. I thought about running this one as a Recirculating skimmer any thought on that. Bought it from a Guy HGTV Guy from Reef central, and canreef here. he's out of Winnipeg. I can't believe it from a Euro reef to a dual Beckett again. I'm just debating on what type of pump to run with this. He has 2 mak 4's that he would sell me for an extra 100 bones. Or I can get a Mak 5 from Lando if he still has it:wink: . Or run a Gen-X 18000 inline pump that Jayson sells at SWC.

Any thought on what type of pump. the waste Collector will be made from an old Instant Ocean salt bucket that i have many of. instead of paying 100 + dollars for them...

I dont have personal experience with any of those pumps, but I have heard the Gen-X inline pumps are failry quiet? I think these pumps are also comparable to one of the types of Blueline pump series? If so, (they are almost exactly the same I think), they should handle alot of head pressure individually, as well as they run cool, and quiet.

I would also think that running a single pump would do you better for wattage than two pumps?

Just a thought!

Cheers,

Chris

:multi: Yay.

Mike, thats one honkin looking skimmer. I always liked the Mak4 pumps for becketts but after seeing Mike,s run on the Mak5, I would say much better pump. But certainly more noise. He is driving the single 28in. beckett tall with it.

Although I also dont have any Gen X experience, they may the way to go, especially if quieter.

Nice Beckett. I suggest a GenX PCX-100, it will drive both becketts just fine.

Use an external.

Blueline pumps are much nicer the pcx ones, but both work well.

what size you don't think a mak 5 would work, what about those genx 18000 4750 flow or use a pressure rated pump

why not use a hammerhead? it is more efficient watt for watt and in addition to the skimmer, you can use it for other functions such as your return pump.
i believe there are a couple for sale.......

Hammerhead is too big for that skimmer, but it can be throttled back.

Hammerhead uses about 375 watts, but two pcx40 would use about 230 watts and run it just fine.

A Dart is likely too small, but their middle pump that uses 280 watts or so would work well.

I think you are reffering to the Barracuda?

u think that i mak 5 would be able to run that Skimmer. Or I was talking to super fudge and he has a sequnece 5800 and he had his pump running his quad skimmer. Lando has a panworld 200 running his recirculating

This is what I thought might be the barracuda.
