i've had these things for several years now and all they do is just live. not thrive mind you as it seems everyone else's do. i thought they we're supposed to be a bit of a weed. i've got great light and flow, feed frequently but have no nitrates or phosphates and all my parameters seem goods so what's the deal?

My GSP's grew like weeds until I increased light and flow. Now they just live. I couldn't be happier about it. I also think they like slightly dirty water they really went wild when I skipped water changes.

I have had a really difficult time keeping these altogether. I have tried 2 frags with no success. Everything else is doing awesome but these things.

when i neglected my tank a few years back the GSP grew quite qwickly, so did my mushrooms. I second the poor/dirty water quality. And they didnt need much light to grow, i had them growing like mad under 2x20w PC in a 10g.

What type do you have, Snakeskin or purple mat?
I find they like a good flow with a bit lower light. I keep mine on the sandbed. I also found they do best when the alk isn't too high.

mine hasn't grown at all. They grew a little when I got them and the tank was still cycling, but now they're stagnant. They look exactly the same 5 months later. I have bright T5 lighting and undetectable nitrates, and high flow. I've always thought I've been doing something wrong...
