I just read that alot of leather corals should not be in the same tank as LPS. I have a leather in my tank and want to get more stonies. Anyone here know if I should get rid of it? I have 1 LPS now and it seems to be doing fine. Both together in a 35 gal. tank. 90 is not set up yet.

Here are a few pics.

I haven't seen too many problems with the mix, as LONG as nothing is anywhere near the leather, and you prepare that the leather is going to get uber big. Mine is literally the size of the a beachball, and it's way overtaken my 45g cube.

However, you should be fine, but as always YMMV! :)

Here is the article that got me thinking, under the heading PLACEMENT. This is why I asked if anyone else had any input on the matter.

I had a plug of favia with a little piece of capnella or the likes on the same plug. The capnella was very small, but it started to outgrow the favia, until the favia grew a polyp right next to the capnella. The capnella died almost overnight. Bit of a shame, since the capnella piece was about 1.5" long. It was only about 1/8" when I first got the plug.

I have had problems with a cabbage leather (Lobophytum sp.) and a turbinaria in the same tank. The turbinaria refused to open the entire time the cabbage was in the tank, even when it was 3 1/2 feet away, as soon as I removed the cabbage the turbinaria opened up again. So it is possible to have problems but I think if you run carbon in the system and do regular water changes it can lesson the danger
