I've got a 150 watt ballast for a metal halide fixture and it's originally for a 'screw-in' bulb. The only thing is that there's not a lot of 150 watt screw-in bulbs rated for ~14000K

My question is, can I remove the screw-in socket and replace it with an HQI double ended sockets?

The reason I want them to be double ended is that there's a lot more double ended bulbs with ~14000K rating in the 150 watt.

Thanks

Oh, and it's a magnetic ballast

look at the ANSI number on the ballast....... it should say M81 for 150 watt.

I don't think a regular magnetic ballast would work for double ended.

Here is a good read about ballasts and MH lights. Answered a lot of questions for me.

If it says it's a M81 then yes but if it says M107 then no
