I bought a doughnut coral and a hairy mushroom coral today and the doughnut coral started to have a large layer or slime covering it after and hour. Now it's starting to shrink slowly towards the center. Is it dying? My hairy mushroom coral seems to be doing very well.

Any thoughts?

It's hard to say without a pic but quite often corals do this to shed a layer and get used to its new surroundings. Give it a couple days and keep an eye on it.

Ok, take a deep breath. Don't freak out :) All corals will retract when disturbed or under stress. Give it time to acclimatize. Just don't go touching or moving it around. It should come around in a couple of days at most.

~*breathe*~ i'll try haha
but i've already played around with it to see if it was getting too much flow.

I couldn't help it ~!

Yes, as with mushrooms, doughnut corals like low flow. Now don't touch it again :twised:

rippins right, touching it messes with it's slime coat and can cause stress.
