Try to get an Ocean Runner. I found those to be much nicer of a pump. They should be a bit more common as well.

OK where did you get an ocean runner? did you mod the impeller yourself or did you use another brand's impeller? (i'm assuming you are using it for recir on a skimmer)

You can buy ocean runners with needlewheels in them. I think needlewheel pumps are 700 series (ie. 2700, 3700, etc). I'm sure Wendel can help bring some in for you. If not Premium Aquatics in the states has them and I think Albert @ Gold's in Calgary can bring them in as well.

Or just go meshwheel with the original impellar.
Gutter gaurd`s at Home depot :).
Mod the original impellar to accept a disc and mesh, trim the volute out to accept the new one and make some foam !
