Today we got our new vitamix blender. Here is a picture of it next to our old one:

It is amazing - even the tiny seeds in strawberries get blended up and just disappear.

Wow that was random  Umm .. congrats on the new purchase?
Haha... I wanted to post it in nano reefs but since the kitchen knife thread was here in the lounge, I figured this was the spot

Hey Chad, Don't tell me you are not going to modify it in some way :) :)

Ha. Ya maybe if I drill holes in the blade, I can get even smaller bubbles.
Actually on a more serious note (maybe), I actually thought it would be cool to set up a blender nano...
The polycarbonate container of my new one gave me the idea. I would put a small powerhead impellor in place of the blades then put an undergravel type grate over it so nothing got caught in the impellor. Then replace the motor with something a lot smaller - just enough power to gently turn the impellor. After that throw a LR spire and some sexy shrimp then plug it in and turn it on for built in water movement. I don't know if that has been done or not, but it will be... mark my words .

You have to check it out.
Yeah you need a blendtec total blender dude.. those things will blend just about anything. (see above link)
Ya, I've watched some of those commercials on utube - brilliant marketing!!
The vitamix is about the same as the blendtec - half of the commercial places use one and the other half use the other eg, Booster Juice is blendtec and Orange Julius is vitamix. In the end I chose this one over the blendtec because the reviews made it sound like the build quality and customer service were a little better.
I just got the 2hp model. They make a 3hp model like the blendtec but I read that you should wear ear protection if you don't have one of those soundproof covers!!! As it was, I was worried about noise but fortunately, it isn't any louder than the 450w Osterizer it replaced.

Holey.. and I always thought a blender was a blender was a blender.
Me too Ryan. But somehow I started researching it and... here we are (one of those 'I never heard of it before but, after all the marketing, now I can't live without'). There are forums dedicated to 'whole foodists' who suggest blending things like: the pit of the avacado (highest source of fiber in the universe), the core of the pineapple (most of the vitamines are there) and even the green leefy top of the pineapple (tons of 'free radicals' whatever that is). I haven't tried anything crazy like that but when I use apples, I just throw them in whole and it ends up smoooth - no sign of any core or seeds.
I bought it for the health benefits but in all truth, I am still eating just as much chicken wings and pop as I always did . One good thing is how easy it is to give my picky kids the recommended servings of fruit and vegetables - most of the time they don't even know what I gave them. Another point for the parents' team.
I'll drink to that,

Just for the record we are talking Beer, not some namby-pamby, twinkletoes Avacado/Beet Root slurpie, right?
Hahaha
I don't know what I was thinking...
must still be hopped up on free radicals or something....
namby-pamby, twinkletoes Avacado/Beet Root slurpie
My favourite. :drinking:
Hey Chad - where did you buy the blender? I have been thinking of buying one for a while now - just didn't really think I would see a thread on Canreef about - well........blenders.......
Haha, I know... had to tell someone though.
I got this one off ebay. I hunted around for a used one for almost a month but the dang things are almost as expensive as when they are new.
(I guess they are high enough quality that they don't depreciate much... could be the 7 year warranty too). I can send you a link to the seller if you are interested.
