View Full Version : WTB Mantis shrimp
Strange request from me, but in the last couple of months I have lost all but my peacock.
Just lost my smithii this morning.
I got a 5 gallon that needs a centerpiece

He's not far from you, either. Only one I've seen lately that appears to be still not sold.
Maybe you could trade your octopus for it. lol

No chance. You have any idea how much money I have spent setting up a tank for a $30 animal? Besides I am very attached...to him
I seen a new one @ Gold yesterday. It's all orange with HUGE white claws. It just came in. First time I've seen one like this and have no clue what type it could be.:)
Weird. You sure it was a mantis?
I just called Dennis and said no?

He told me it was a mantis yesterday.
Looked like a mantis body with giant white claws.
Go figure.
Edit:
I just called him also and he said that it's some kind of snapping shrimp and was just written on the shipping list as a mantis or something like that.
i have crabs

ditto on the pistol shrimp theory. I find that in general LFS usually aren't the best sources of info on mantis shrimp. warning: In a 5 gal you should stick to a small species.
on finding one: go to your LFS and ask them to put your name down in case they get one and whether or not they can order one in for ya.
i know where you can find some BIG peacocks- they are frozen though :D
I would be relatively secure in saying those hit the BBQ about 6 pm last night.
Haha
That was amazing. Poor peacocks
where did you get your smithii from?
would you be interested in my haptosquilla stoliura mantis?
Smithii aren't hard to get anymore. Just keep looking.
Not interested in yours sorry.
okay no prob, elite got two mantis shrimp in, i belive these are them

Ya I saw them. Both female G Chiragra. Nice looking too. But I wouldn do anything less than a 15 for them
oh okay, good thing i didnt take one of those girls
How much were those ladies?
He told ME that they were both sold anyway. Could still be available though.
i think one was on hold for me, but im not getting it anymore, i think he sells them for around 40-50, i guess it probably depends on what kind it is

Good you waited. I talked to a few wholesalers and the cost of mantis have not gone up,
I will find you one......after mine that is
okay that would be awsome, been looking for a`smithii, or any other mantis that is active like that, the mantis i have now is neat but hides alot, from what i have read smithii's are one of the most active and stay fairly small
Darcy, if you are trying to look "special" in this thread it is working. ;)
Whats with the one word replies?
Still looking!
Ones at the shops in Calgary are all Chiragra....
