I read about some of you guys using these Ikea LED lights on your tank (which was a really cool idea) and I was wondering if they would be enough to support any photosynthetic organisms (more specifically, xenia). Also, would you reccomend the white or blue colour? I don't have any, it's just a curiosity/just in case question.

I highly doubt you could sustain anything photosynthetic with just these lights alone. They would make excellent moonlights, though.

I'm planning on using the puck version of these IKEA LEDs for my moonlights.

I've heard great things about their use as moonlights - Where are the puck ones located? I'm having trouble finding them! :(

No, not powerful enough, these are < 6000mcd led's. I can tell you from experience, 12,000mcd's are adequate for softies/lps at 1" spacing on a standard 2.5g tank.

While you could basically cover the tank with these - I doubt you'd find enough intensity for anything but low light corals in a very shallow tank.
