Season started again in november.I couldn't pass this one up,almost bought another around the same size that was a deep blue in color. The shell on the claws was really thick, took 5 good wacks with a large hammer to open them.
God,after looking at the picture,I think I need to renovate the kitchen and bring it up to date, lol. The weather here has been out of this world, coldest we seen here along the South shore has been around -10'c.Still get to go for daily walks on the beach.

I agree the smaller ones taste better, but this one was still soooo tasty. In hindsight,I would never eat one this big again, just for the fact I had to buy an oversized roast pan and it took almost 60 minutes to cook in salt water.

"How many people ate that monster? Just you???"

Heck ya,lol.Actually ate half and froze the other half.I sent the picture to my brother and told him it washed up on shore, lol. We get alot of shellfish including large scallops that wash up after rough weather. The water near the shoreline is very clean,so any live shellfish that gets washed up in the kelp could be consumed if you really wanted to.
