I am wondering if anyone is familiar with the LED light fixture by Solaris? It sounds like it would be a heck of a unit.Less power etc.

I'd love to see one in person. I bet it's neat but I dunno, I sure do like halides. I guess the heat's an issue but on a day like today I don't mind that so much. :) Now on a hot summer's day though..... (but that feels so far away right now!)

Welcome to Canreef BTW

I wish I was in the same boat as you Tony - I've got the windows open, fan*S* (plural) on and debating on whether or not I should have an A/C running in JANUARY.

Summer is not a month I want to think about.

From 150W over your tank or are you in a condo with some kind of insane heating ??? I know you guys have milder winters out there but that doesn't seem right to me? I have nearly 1000W of halides in my basement over all the various tanks and before I had A/C the summers got a little dicey at times but never in the winter months...

Welcome, Rumika!

A good friend of mine sells lighting and gets things at wholesale. At any rate, this (http://www.anolis.cz/en/catalog/arcline/arcline36rgb.html) is one of his LED products, and he seems to think it would be smashing on an aquarium. I could get it for $1100 including all electrical/wiring necessary. Is this an alternative?

Anyway, not trying to hijack your thread here! I think the Solaris looks amazing, but it's $@!@%# expensive!

I doubt this would work, but if it doesn't............. You'll have a nice energy efficient light to hang over your desk. :)

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I am interested in the LED's so we might have to talk a little more seriously about your offer. Would your friend mind oredering one for me? Most of you have probably had your tanks for quite awhile but do the MH increase your power bill? With the price of power nowadays this is also something to consider!!!

They can increase your power bill, but in comparision to the cost of the LED fixtures its not worth it unless you have a large tank using 3 400w MHs.

lmao - Well, I DO live in Surrey - BC town of Grow Ops... Still am waiting for the coppers to bust down my doors :)

I think it's due to the fact that I have about 6 tanks in that bedroom, all running at approx 80. It's a mini rainforest, I think in one of my other posts someone asked if I could see rainclouds. I think I've started.

It's not enough to get moldy, but I do plan on getting a dehumidifier very, very soon - or I'll melt :P
