That is a beautiful brain Greg! I wish I could keep one alive but have absolutely no success with them.
I guess that makes me..................brainless:redface:

Mark, that's a nice one but I guess a little shy. Some take a while to come out of their shell.

Ok ok, where do you guys have them sitting in your tanks, and what kind of lighting are they under.
The Red brain I acquired a month ago has closed up. I was told they don't like intense light, so I put it at the bottom kind of under a cap. Now it opens up a bit more but only at night. Whats the deal?
I have 1 400 watt 14K MH in a 24" deep tank.

My lights are HQI MH 3x250 10k & 2x150 20k. I had one similar to Marie's that just died on the sandbed. At the moment I have my healthy pieces mounted on the rock work on an angle about mid-height in the tank. My pink rimmed one at the time of this photo was perched on some rock just above the sand, but it is still doing well mid-tank.

Danny--I have a green brain that's relatively high up and receives lots of light, with low-moderate flow. Did we read somewhere recently that red brains like less light? It seems to me like we did (I think in my blastomussa thread).
Maybe you could put him in someone else's tank with lower lighting (say, PC or VHO or lower MH) and see how it does? Mine is fully open during the day and then closes up at night, with all it's feeding tentacles (or whatever you'd call them) out.

Anthony you are king of the brains! No wonder you're a tutor.
Do you guys direct feed your brains and if so how often?
About once a week, after I feed my tank the tentacles start coming out,
I blow some mysis over mine.

It's quite rare for me to target feed anything but once in a blue moon I do.

I target feed mine mysis roughly once a week.
