The Vancouver area has had some power problems the last month . I was going to Canadian Tire to get some lights and saw a backup power supply unit. It is made by NOMA and its a 400w unit. Its regular price is $200.00 but its on sale now for $150.00 I have not had time to hook it up but im sure it will run my air pumps for a few hours if the power ever goes off at my place. Oh and they do have another one its a 1000w on sale for $200.00 I think.

we thought about getting one of those....but it will only power up minor items for a limited time.

Instead, we got the 3750 watt generator, we figure with have so much invested ($$$ and love wise) into our pets and hobby, it will be worth it longterm.
