These magnet braced pumps are starting to pop up everywhere. The Koralia series from Hydor looks pretty cool.

These look very cool. I wonder how they'll be priced compared to the Tunze Turbelle Nanostreams...

Pretty cool looking pump. Can't find much info on them but what I've read they should be available in the US in Feb and they seem fairly cheap but I dont' know where the guy got his info from.

"there are 4 models from 32 euro to 72 euro."
This is the pricing in Europe. Yet another site says they expect them to be a whole lot cheaper in the US, I think $40US for the largest model. Isn't Hydor an Italian company? I find it hard to believe that an Italian company would charge their people 4 times or so more than to their American customers.
It's supposed to come out in the UK pre-Christmas, so that'll give us a better indication on possible pricing.

Looks like the magnet is only rated to 15mm or half an inch (.59") so might not work for some of the larger tanks.
any idea what kind of water they can move?
oops i found this..

According to a few on RC - they've hit US shores...
So who's going to have them first - and at what price in canada? :D

After a bunch of reading and debate between one of these and a Tunze Nano Stream 6045, I finally decided on a Hydor Koralia 4. Nobody is sure when the 6045 was gonna show up in our local stores, and the price point of the Koralia is very attractive.
So I ordered one today from Tropical Fish Outlet (US$44.99 + $8.99 shipping).
Has the same flow but at half the price of the Nano 6045. Supposed to be a bit larger, but more dispersed flow.
I'll be sure to post a brief review once I get it setup later this coming week.

there's already a mod tread on RC with the same concept as the Maxijet mods with the racing boat propeller to push 2-3x the normal rated gph
i'll post the tread when i find it again.....

yeah, apparently the maxijet impeller slides right in and of course those maximod boys love to play with the props... Nothing that has to be done of course...

I was reading the "New Koralia Pumps" thread on RC and the majority love them.
According to the thread, They push similar amounts of water to the nano tunze but in a more dispersed manner. Nano was more concentrated and the koralia was wider therefore it did not shoot across the tank as much.
I will be looking for a Canadian distributor if not ordering from a U.S online place. Hopefully you dont get burned too much in the shipping.
They are supercool...I just saw them in action at the Global Pet Expo in Florida (where I am now).
If I could venture a guess, and it would be a fairly educated one, I would say that they will hit stores in 3-4 weeks in Canada

Nate:
Im sure if you buy a bunch, and bring them back, you'll have some early buyers.
Yours truly included. :)

C'mon nate - bring me back a couple of 4's :) Puhleeeeze! I'll bribe if I have to
FYI's for those thinking of shipping (2) from us sellers:
Drs Foster smith - 110$ for ground shipping to canada (fedex)
Marine Depot - 38.99$ UPS 3-4 day
Not that I've looked into it or anything...
take it easy, and they will come....

Did nobody read my original post that started this thread anew again?
I ordered one from Tropical Fish Outlet for US$44.99 + $8.99 shipping.
Now I am getting it shipped to my postal receiving in Blaine, WA so I only have to pay regular shipping rates and I get it much sooner than waiting for it to pass through customs (and all that extra cost for shipping to Canada, plus customs and duties!) :)
Everywhere else is selling them for US$59.99 or thereabouts + shipping!
I suspect when the do finally show up in our LFS, they'll be priced at CDN$75.00 or so (plus 13% of course). :(

Just remember to support your local stores too...as they will be the first place to help u out when you have problems. But that is a whole nother bag of worms

Heh, I have tried to support my local stores - I asked each and every one of them in the past 2 weeks, if they could get these pumps... Got the same "I'll let ya know after the dealer visits the trade show" ;) Gee I wonder who they were refering to ;)
Canadawest - could it be that the rest of us don't have US postal boxes, and the retailer you speak of is a relative unknown? (psst move to alberta 6% tax )

Yeah, I'd buy one off you, too! I've searched high and low, but to no avail. Not in Canada. Anywhere!

I concur.
j&L says they know about them but have no idea when they will get them.
I would order on the spot if it wasnt for the rip off shipping charges.
All I cansay right now is that I feel that the western Canadian market will be really happy with all of the new lines we will be bringing in over the next 3 -4 weeks. Things will be interesting

Who are the WE you are referring to above?
Any hints on the "new lines"?

Plus $50 flat rate UPS brokerage fee. Last time I checked, Marine Depot will ONLY use UPS for shipping so you're stuck with that if that policy still holds.
no hints as to what I will be getting until I get back to Calgary....roughing it in FLorida rightnow.
As for we, it is the Calgarian distributor I work for.
I dont work for Hydor, but expect to see many new lines come in in the next month.

Yep... +50$ brokerage I just kinda assumed people knew that was something ya just had no choice but to pay...
I know pisces is a dealer of hydor products - when I spoke to the manager - he knew nothing of the koralia pumps... Big als in edmonton I've heard doesn't carry them - but do carry the other hydor products...
Rest up nate - I think we'll be keeping ya busy when you get back
see who deals with me, and cichlid wholesale...they have 400 customers throughout Canada (mostly western, but as far as Winnipeg for you Manitoba boys)
