Hey.

I believe I have an aptasia growing out of a rock. I cannot get a picture since it is tiny and at a wierd angle that a camera would not catch. Basically it looks like cotton candyish very red top- not like the classic apstasia flower looking tentacles. It also seems like the stem is a calcerous hard stem. I havent touched it or anything. Could this be a worm or a feather duster? I have not seen it retract into the tube- but I know that some days I will look in the area and not see it and some days I will see it so Im guessing it does retract. Any ideas anyone, also any plans of action- I wouldnt mind leaving it but if it is aptasia I wouldnt want it to spread.

Thanks,

I thought it might be that- will it grow bigger? when I say bigger I mean so that I will be able to notice it.

Likely it will not get much bigger than it already is if it is one of these:

They will multiply though. I have lots of them on my rock

looks similar to that except it is a lot smaller- I would say almost the size of the the tube feather duster(white ones) everyone gets on their tank glass. But the feathery part is a very rich red color. So Im guessing its most likely the same thing correct?

Yep, these ones are pretty darn tiny. They're only about 2-3mm across at the largest.
