Well out here just south of Calgary on our acreage the wind is unbelievable. It is going to be a long night. So far I've completely lost a shed, 2 horse shelters and had a horse struck by panel of some sort. Can't tell about house or other structure damage yet as it is dark out. Pretty well at the mercy of mother nature, as there's not much one can do. Anyone in Calgary experiencing the same? Also herd things aren't great in some parts of BC.

Vancouver Island was BRUTAL the last 24 hours. We were trying to get the ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver and were turned away (several ferries could not go-my brother was trying to go Victoria to Vancouver and was unable also) the wind was absolutely unbelievable. Our drive from Campbell River to Nanaimo was horrific...almost made us turn around but we were heading for my aunt's "wake/funeral" and thought it would calm down enough to go. WRONG!

There were a couple gusts downtown about 9:00 that shook our office building. Riding my bike home into the wind was not much fun.
See there's a wind warning south and west of Calgary, 70 gusting to 110km/hr

Late morning till mid-afternoon it was howling in Burnaby. So loud it sounded like I was outside & not safe inside. Had to pick up something in Richmond tonight & parts of that city are still without lights. Fortunately, we never lost power or anything.

Well a 2.5 hour trech home last night made me thing about moving.
Just about every intersection between Richmond & Surrey was out last night.
And they are calling for more rain tonight.

Had the tail end of a hurricane hit the other night and knocked out all power for a few hours. The waves were huge, thought the storm would never end.On the plus side, its been averaging 15 degrees and no snow :)
Try hauling a turnpike down the road thats empty in a wind storm...126 feet of aluminum sail....

turn-pike
–noun
1.a high-speed highway, esp. one maintained by tolls. 2.(formerly) a barrier set across such a highway to stop passage until a toll has been paid; tollgate.
hmmm.....Isn't a Turn Pike 2 of those big things that go down the road that nobody seems to see. Or let in. Oh well guess you just have to push your way in. The only thing worse in the wind would be a empty cattle hauler. So I've been told. But I've only hauled A-Trains.....Hmmmm Bet there's only 3 people here that know what that is.
Oh wow just noticed you said an EMPTY Turn Pike. No thanks. I heard a couple of 53's got put on there sides north somewhere.

Neighbour had a tree blow over. Luckily missed my house but took out my lines. That was Wednsday about noon. Hydro was here immediatley due to the lines crossing the road:biggrin: , but I just got my tele/adsl back now and no sign of Shaw yet:twised: . Been laid up with sciatica for a few weeks now so I couldn't even go and do anything. 3 days of no tv or internet for an old cripple has to be even more pain than the one in my butt:lol: . Wonder what I did before cable:question:
