Does anyone use something other than water to fill a bubble counter? Water seems to evaporate pretty quick and kind of a PIA to refill.
I think I remember somebody using glycerin maybe?

I use glycerine in my co2 bubble counter. WAAAAAAAAY easier to count bubbles too.

I run 2 calcium reactors and use water in the bubble counter. I find I have to add water to the bubble counters about every 3 weeks to a month.
I am going to try glycerine next time.

When you start using higher bubble rates for higher output water evaporates a lot faster.

Well, I haven't had to add any water in two years.

It must be that heavy water up in the north.

You should be able to get it at the drugstore I think. I can't remember which section they put it in though.

Not in my reactor, I had no idea that people used anything else than water. I just learned a little while ago that they suggest you use FW rather than SW in the bubble counter because of pH or something (I can't quite remember, I just went "oh, hmm" and moved on  ). I've used glycerin in various other crafty type things

I just got a new reactor and it will be interesting to see how the water levels in the bubble counter do. My previous reactor went for 3 years without needing any extra water put into the bubble counter. I didn't think it could evaporate.

Yeah, I had no issues for the first year or so but as I have increased the bubble rate in the last few months It evaporates in a few weeks.

I ordered some bubble counter fluid on line, I'm not sure if it is glycerin or silicone but I haven't had to refill it since.
