(Resurrecting an ancient thread...)

Steve, does your fish still look like this? I'm curious.

My lawnmower has the same look to him. I'm a bit concerned, because the stomach area is starting to get extremely bloated looking.

The fish still eats, still swims, still very active and acting normal in every way, except that the stomach area looks large. Could this be a blockage in the intestinal tract? Does anyone have any ideas?

I'd be inclined to believe that it's a case of constipation, but he still eats (probably eating way too much, in fact). I'm going to cut back on the nori feedings for the moment.

A few cursory searches of RC shows that constipation can sometimes be treated with a FW dip, but constipation seems to go hand-in-hand with the fish stopping eating. Mine, he eats non-stop. If there isn't food in the tank then he's mowing the rocks or mowing the glass. And the second that nori is put into the tank, he's on it like a fly onto ... you-know-what.

Any ideas? Anyone? Advice appreciated!!

Here are some pictures. Apologies for the quality ... the fish is too fast for the camera.

Geez, he looks like he's swallowed a golf ball or marble. I'm starting to get a little worried here. :frown:

Looks like some cats I've seen. I'd be a little worried too... Is the constantly-available Nori a common factor here, and with other bloated blennies? Just asking - mine never gets sushi-wrap, but looks lean and mean.

no mine kinda looks like nothing now, got lost in the move....

he was only like that after he gorged on norie a day or so later he would look normal again. I had to ration his food

Ah. So maybe I shall try to cut back on feeding for a few days and watch what happens. His tank DOES have nori available "nearly" 24x7. He will mow down a sheet in a matter of hours. I hope that's all it is.

He is as full of spunk as he's ever been. Usually he swims up to the front glass to give me the finger (which is an odd thing for a fish to do, but if you saw what I'm talking about, you'd know what I mean!) He even makes for cleaning the glass with the magnet cleaner to be a tricky chore because he's chasing me and the magnet (and I don't want to bang into him by accident).

I sure hope it's not a case of egg-bound or other issue. I don't know what to do about it, if it is. :frown:
