I've been looking for a rare monti cap to put kinda front and center as a showpiece in my tank. Even if you don't have a frag I was wondering if you had a picture so I might be able to source one out. Thanks.

Just missed out. J&L was selling a frag of a blue monti cap. Beautiful colour but $$$. It's still on their website if you want a pic.

It was that frag that started me wanting a piece like that as a showpiece. I'd really love a base like blue or purple but with different color polyps or a different color rim to give it some contrast if that even exists.

I bought one out of two pieces of that "cap". It's actually not a cap, but a Montipora Foliosa (as I just recently learned).

What is the difference between the two?

Montipora capricornis (http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/201-300/Species%20pages/268.htm)

Montipora foliosa (http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/201-300/Species%20pages/255.htm)

Looks like different growth patterns and directions of ridges along the plates.

Huh. The foliosa seems to be more defined. I think I like that one better.

Yeah I saw that a few days ago. I think it was sold the same day it was posted. Worth the money. Hopefully, more will be coming in.

We'll have to get a trade going, since I believe it was you that posted those nice pics from Safari :)

For sure. Things in my tank are taking forever to grow though so we might be waiting a while.
