i'm starting a 265 gallon setup and im debating on using an ASM g4+ or an H&S 200-1260 skimmer. i have no experience on the big skimmers so i was hoping for some input as to which is better, the g4+ is rated for 400 gal and the h&s is 300gal but i've heard some great stuff on the h&s line. input would be great

H&S all the way. There is no comparison with build quality and performance, although the ASM is alot cheaper.

the ASM is cheaper but if i buy it and then have to upgrade later because it is inefficient then i pay a lot more. i've been studyin on RC about the H&S and they are pretty much saying exactly what you are.

I have an H&S A200-2x1260 and it is awesome. I have owned about 5 different skimmers and your philosophy is correct about spending more money in the end if you cheap out in the beginning.

what size tank do you have. i initially looked at the one you have but will not fit in my stand because of height restrictions but model i want is rated for 300 and my whole system with sump will be about 320 so i'm thinking it should be good. any pics of your skimmer
