Don't know what disease your fish has, but here is a section from Christy's Reference Library on Fish Diseases and Treatments....

cant tell which fungus it is but looks like cotton mouth
a common fungal infection
most fungus are due to poor water quality, weak or old fish, and so on
but are part of natural aquatic fauna
common fungal infections are treated with dye's such as malcyte green or blue
or a broadspectrum anti-fungal and often water change
also soaking food in antibiotics although fungal infections can cause the fish to not eat.
the pet store should have a good anti-fungal
that is safe. malcyte green is safe for coral and invertibrates and works well.
