About 3 weeks old now. I used sand, rock, and frags from my established tanks and had no cycle. I wanted to keep this setup as simple as possible so i used readily availible components. Marina 1.87L Betta tank ($6), Elite Mini powerfilter ($13), Coralife 10W 50/50 bulb ($20), and a $10 desk lamp.

Inhabitants so far:
-2 sexy shrimp
-1 blue leg hermit
-1 nassarius snail
-xenia
-zoos
-green hairy shroom
-striped shroom
-frogspawn
-green star polyps

Neat.

I read somewhere that the Elite filters aren't good in SW tanks, though. Apparently they have components that could corrode. I can't remember where I got this info, so maybe keep an eye on the filter, just in case.

Sweet, the Elite I used in my Wife's Nano went kaput, the shaft rusted and fell out.

Love the 1/2g, strangely I find myself missing my old 6" cube (about the same volume). Keep pondering setting it up again. Best reason for keeping it was to house the smaller animals (sexy shrimp, boxer/porcelain crabs - and those lovely little gobies), as they become the centerpieces instead of dissapearing into the rockwork; like the do when in big tanks...
