The bugger swam right out and posed on top of a rock for a full minute before I made the run for the camera. By the time I got back, no more than ten seconds later, he was in the rocks. Son of a...

Anyway, next on my list is a Red Sea Miniatus Grouper. Go me!

Check it out:

I think the price tag on that site is a bit out of whack though. To me, this is a $200-$250 CAD fish.

That's a bit high, IMO. Like I said, to me, it's a $200-$250 fish.

PM me.

Can these go into a reef, or pretty much into a FOWLR type setup only?

That is a pretty cool fish. It looks like it is not reef safe though, it can grow up to 14 inches. This site says add with caution, I would not risk it.

I dunno, to me, they're coral-safe. I have a miniatus grouper in our display reef at the store. No problems. Just keep in mind they'll probably eat shrimp and will most definitely eat small fish. They also get huge (but really, no bigger than most tangs... LOL!).

With it being a grouper, its likely to be a fish eater,as far as I know the Marine Betta is the only one in the family that is reasonably safe around small fish.Im just basing this on what I know of groupers as a whole and not on this species.
