hello im fairly new to reefkeeping and have yet to get hard corals.Just curiousif anyone knows if 1 400watt 14000kmh is sufficient for a 72gal bowfront? my collection right now is mostly ricordea and zoo's but i have recently been forced to change lights due to major power surge in my house that wiped out old lights and pumps in tank.just dont want to waste any money on nice hard corals if the light is insufficient but i also cant afford another ballast and light right now so if i have to wait I will.any replie is greatly appreciated.
thanks CLINT

what kind of reflector do you have? How deep is the tank?

my tank is 4ft long 18inch wide and 22in to the sandbed.my hood is a air cooled box 2ftx16in.its about 11in above the tank right now and could go lower if need be.

400w over a 22" deep tank would be fine, but you might have some darker corners on a 4 foot tank.

If you used a crazy reflector like the LumenMax or the LumenArc, the dark spots would be barely noticeable.
