Hey Folks,

Anyone successfully repaired an AGA center brace? That little hunk of plastic across the tank at the center?

Figured roughing it up, epoxy and a bit of fiberglass would fix it - lasted less than 3 hours.

Anyone know a method that works?

is it cracked or melted?
i got my 90 gal with a melted brace..funny almost could make out the bulb shape..old owner must have no sense of smell...

pulled out the soldering iron.. made a flat tip.. and remelted it till it looked ok....
same thing we do to car bumpers that crack....
when you don't know what to patch with, use parts of the original...little razor scraper to take off pieces and fill in bare areas...
just watch the heat dont burn it...just soften it till its moldable ...

Personally I would just chop it out and put in glass, I's always wonder about the strength of anything else. I bet ABS cement would bond that stuff though, worth trying on a scrap or something.

What size tank is it? I could probably track down a replacement for you.
