Al, there was a recent thread on cyano. Maybe do a search for it. Folks offered lots of suggestions on how to get rid of it.

More importanly, IMO, is what is causing cyano in your tank? Overstocked, overfeeding, no/poor skimmer? Sure, you can do a quick fix, which is good, but if the underlying cause of the cyano isn't addressed, you haven't really solved the problem.

I am going through a bad bout right now I reduced feeding/lights more water changes more skimmer nothing is working ....so I'm blaming it on really old bulbs

I have brand new bulbs in my tank..and still have cyano
I think that it has alot to do with waste products and nitrates...
Trying to get those under control with less food and more water changes
I also got rid of my sand bed in one of my invert tanks and that seemed to get rid of it as well..
I dunno...I just siphon it off..seems to set it back a bit.

I had a bad case of cyano a while back. I stoped feeding frozen foods and did a few large water changes. Now my fish only get nori and prime reef flake. The tank has never looked better, if i would only clean the glass once and awhile.
