I couldnt find my Solarensis at feeding time today....I found him behind the tank. He must have jumped out during the day, I thought I had the top covered enough...We had the pleasure of raising him for a year and a half....a beautiful and interesting fish. A pic of him and the Regal. My icon is also him

Sorry to hear. . . they are such a beautiful fish with a great personality. I too lost one to a jump. They are great fish and a wonderful addition to a reef tank.

Thanks...He cheated death twice before by jumping out during feeding. I opened up the hood and went to get the food, I just about stepped on him when I came back!

Do you not have some sort of cover on your tank?

Eggcrate work well, it allows the majority of the light out, but keeps *most* fish in.

eggcrate diffuses to much light.

Is there something better? I would prefer to add more lights for the corals than to risk losing so many fish, I lost many to jumping before I covered my tank, so sad.

glass

Glass has its drawbacks too though, it traps heat, and doesn't allow for gas exchange at the surface.

How do you know glass doesn't block more light than eggcrate?

are you serious? you can't tell that diffrence between eggcrate and glass?

Visual light doesn't necessarily mean anything, the glass is going to be filtering the light, whereas eggcrate is not.

I don't know if this is a problem or not, but it potentially is, I don't know.
