Just wanted to throw out there how wonderful of a day I have had so far today.
I bought a boat last year that had a blown motor
I bought a engine to replace the blown motor and had my mechanic rebuild it.
3 weeks ago, I brought it to the lake and it wouldn't idle...Fixed that problem
2 weeks ago, I brought it to the lake and a couple of screws came lose and chewed through the timing chain cover...Fixed that problem
Today, brought the boat to the lake and threw it in.
After going about 2 kms, Black smoke starts to billow out from under the engine cover..
Bammm..Loud noise and engine stops....and wont start.
So now, I had to row back to the dock, 2 kms in the opposite direction from which I just came.
2 and half hours later, I arrive at the dock and load the boat.
On the way home I stop and buy a engine hoist from Princess Auto (0n sale BTW, 199.99) so that I can now rip out the now garbage engine and start again.
So yea, anyone else having a stupedous day?
Not that I am bitter or anything..LOL
BTW, does anyone want to buy a boat???? CHEAP..lol

I'm sunburnt like mad from golfing all day at our company tournament. I can't complain about that at all.

Sometimes it is great owning your own business, sometimes it is over whelming, six companies, seven partners, no time to think, these fish might save my life.

Well ... dunno if this helps or not, but I've learned along the way ... it can *always* be worse. And it's generally best never to ask "how could this ever get any worse??" ... because that's when you'll get an answer to that question.

What kind of boat?

Tony's right, it could be worse.

I'll stick with my canoe and trolling motor :)

Buysell.com has used motors you could look into.

"Temporary Insanity" -- that picture from G1GY is almost as funny as it is tragic (that looked like a pretty damn nice boat!!!)!!

If its any consolation Neal, I boat on Gull Lake (north of Sylvan) and it is a nice little late but is so amazing shallow (about 25 feet at the deepest) that it's almost impossible not to "donate" something to the lake every now and again (like a prop if you hit someone's sunken ice fishing shack or something). Ouch.

Having had to paddle in once before, I share your pain... Made me wonder why I wasn't out sailing that day.

Speaking of ... Would now be a good time to suggest taking up sailing??

On second thought .... never mind ... it's probably not much cheaper when you stop to think about it...

Crashed my 4 month old new car because the "sign lady" (on glenmore) didn't want to actually use her sign.

He probably meant the "hard workers" that hold the stop/slow signs. Sounds like they are working hard as usual!

She was standing in the middle of the road waving her hand around for people to stop. I was in the outside lane to merge onto crowchild and all the work they were doing was in the middle. There really was no reason for my lane to be stopped, but she started yelling at the lady in front of me to stop so she slammed on her brakes, I didn't see her, slammed into her and then the guy behind me smashed into me. If she had just held her sign in the air everyone could have seen that they were supposed to be, or at least be thinking about stopping.

Sorry to hear about your dog, that is terrible, but it wasn't your fault these things could happen to anyone anytime.

Man I hate coyotes - they got my precious little yorkie poo Punky about 5 weeks ago now. She was only 1 1/2 years old and the sneaky buggers have been getting closer and closer to my house and I am pretty sure they just grabbed her and ran - she only weighed like 4 or 5 pounds. I keep missing the potlickers but my aim is getting better.

Coyotes have been terrible this year in Edmonton, there are so many they are even forming into pack, and surrounding people & their small dogs at the dog parks at night.
