Ok, my Velocity T4 just seized up again. I have to make new seawater and empty the sump and soak it to see if I can ressurect it.

If it doesnt work, anyone have the same pump or very similar specs avail?

Otherwise I have to make plans elsewhere.

Pump is external. 1" in and out. output flow is 1100GPH

Thanks

Those pump seize regularly, once turned off. When you open her up you will see some nice calcium buildup. Just soak in viniger for a few hours and all should be fine..

I hope that is the case.

Anyway to prevent or minimize that build up so it doesnt seize up as often?

Its not really possible... You can lower your Ca a bit, down tpo 390-400 level. the only thing to do is do regular maintenance, every 6 months, by cleaning it out soaking and putting it back together. Better to do it on your schedule where you can plan it out then have to react to an emergency like this one.

Other thing you can do which a few people do, and I think everybody should, is to have a spare return pump.

I would imagine that everything in the tank will be ok for a day with just a tunze cirulation? Temp seems to be stable.

If you need another powerhead, I have a spare. No return pumps lying around though.

you might have to chip the calcium off with a screwdriver, i usally do after 6 months.
