ok so I'm starting to do my plumbing I have everything sched40 my bulkheads have 1 1/4" OD threads so I got 1 1/4" ID fittings but it is like they are the wrongs threads they will on screw on a couple threads befor they tighten up and I have to use the vice to unscrew it http://www.smilieshq.com/smilies/mad0270.gif (http://www.smilieshq.com)
Does it need a little lube?hmmmm...I have a thread guage measurer with my tap set I'm going to measure the threads and get back

The tank came with the bulheads it's a marineland cornerflo 90

When planning out my tank, found the outside thread of a bulkhead is made for the nut only, it's not the same as a threaded fitting (pipe thread (tapered?) vs standard).

Seems the connection to the bulkhead is to be internal only, either threaded or slip, not over the outside. The only exception I found where you would go over the outside was bard type bulkheads common in hydroponics.

For sure those outside treads are just for the nut, I also found out the hard way. Sounds like you got a 1" bulkhead.

Ok so I got 1" bulkheads so I got the bushing to slip inside but it reduces it down to 3/4 now I have to get another fitting to go back up to 1". How much reduction in the flow is this going to be.
This is getting to be a real pain the the F@#$%&*g A%$ http://www.smilieshq.com/smilies/mad0245.gif (http://www.smilieshq.com)

Why the bushing?

I used both slip-fit and threaded (inside) bulkheads.

For the 2" slip-fit bulkheads, didn't use any bushings, just glued 2" pipe directly into bulkhead.

As for the threaded 1" bulkheads, used 1" TA (threaded to slip adapter) screwed that into the bulkhead then glued 1" pipe into the TA (again no bushing).

fyi: the 1" bulkhead, tank was drilled 1.75"

Whew finally did it  when I finally sat down and looked at it and played around I had more than enough peices to do ....and it was fairly easy just needed some time to stare at it

Nice, I'm glad the bulkhead did not defeat you, I was getting a bit worried we might have to take your reef away from you.

Know what you mean. The thought of all the different ways to layout, then the idea of actually cutting and gluing, my tank sat on the pallet longer than it should have. Once I finally got started, found out plumbing's really not that bad but the relief I felt once it was done...
