Time for more macro pruning... The Gracilaria is starting to take over the seahorse tank.

5$ for a palm sized hunk sound reasonable? Also lookin for frags :D

Pic should be attached. Nice red macro algae

It looks more like Red Halimenia to me, not Gracilarius.

No, the halymenia's are a harder macro, this stuff is soft pliable and feels greasy - 99% sure it's Gracilaria.

I do have something closer to red halymenia, but it's not yet for sale ;) Seem to recall it's proper name was Cen???

How well does it ship? If it ships well, then I would love to get a portion or two of it for my seahorse tank tooooooooo.

I've shipped Chaeto & Prolifera before but no red macros.

Shipped this stuff before "dry" (wrapped in wet towel) buyers never complained about dead plants... One package was in transit for 4 days - Mind you it was much earlier in the spring with lower temps.

Not to rock the boat, but that's the stuff I got from you last summer Anthony.

Bah, y'all are too difficult... Halimenia is supposed to be calcaerous - this stuff isn't. If ya can't bend and break it, it's not calcaerous...

I believe your thinking of halimeda, completely different stuff

http://www.marineflora.com/macroalgae.html Look at the pictures, going by that (and numerous other reputable sources), it's definitely not halymenia.

does this stuff go sexual , would it be okay in your main tank for added color and growth?

No not a variety of caulerpa (no matter what species you believe it is), doesn't go sexual. But - My yellow tang and 6bar angel love to nip at it.

All gone for now

Albert - it may have, I've gotten red macros from a variety of people - some have survived some haven't, strangely I've never tried to tag them to keep track of who supplied what ;)

Just noticed this thread as I was searching for some halymenia for my sump. From what I've had previously, halymenia is soft and slippery.

Here's a good ID page. There's a "Search for:" textbox at the bottom.

I guess they both look the same.

Here's what some species of Halymenia looks like:
