my clownfish is over 3 years old now and still going strong... I don't know how old she was when I bought her... Went from a 10 gallon tank to a 20 gallon to a 72 gallon :P She has been in all my saltwater tanks :)

Yes, I have talked to people with fish much older than mine, but I am happy to have my oldest at seven years (YT and Trigger) with some others following in right behind.

I never seem to keep a coral in place long enough to have it for years....

I have a few fish that were the first S/W purchases that i made about 8 or 9 years ago. My first purchases were Blue Damsels @ $3.00 each to aid in the cycling of my first setup.

You know it is a murphy's law that the cheapest will last the most expensive will die.

I have had my tanks set up for a year and a half and under and have continued to aquire fish over this time. I have lost 2 firefish (jumpers) 3 gobies (dottyback) and one Moorish Idol (killed by Yellow Tang). Most of my fish in my 230g have been there for over a year and like Tom I still have the first 2 fish that I got - blue devil damsel and tomato clown.

Yellow tang - 7+ years
Tomato clown - 7+ years, it was fully mature when I got it, so I expect it is at least 10-12 years old

My pink skunk clown is 6yrs, sixline is 4yrs, and I lost two yellow watchmens back at Xmas that were both 7yrs.

As for coral, I have a few pieces that I started with 9 yrs ago which include my candycane, frogspawn, and gorgonians-all have been fragged more times than I can count.

That's funny...the first fish I ever purchased was a yellow tail blue damsel, which I put in the tank to ensure that it was safe to begin adding more. That was nearly 13 years ago..and he is still there.

This is a photo of that 12+ year old yellow tail...(photo from 2004). He was lost his left eye by an attack in Dec, 1996. It hasn't slowed him down too much!
