Hi Calgarians
I'm looking to come out to Calgary sometime at the end of this month (April 28, 29 or 30) to get a tank. The tank is currently in the basement of a residence located in the vicinity of Deerfoot Trail SE and 34 Ave SE. The tank is in the basement and it will need to be carried up 10 stairs where I will then use a dolly to wheel it to the vehicle and then it needs to be picked up and slid on the vehicle.
The unfortunate part is that this tank will weigh almost 700-800 lbs. I will bring another person with me and I will need an additional 3-4 people to help out. In return for your assistance, I will offer frags of my livestock.

Please PM if you can help.

PS - I do respectfully ask that if you have any pre-existing medical condition (ie back problems) that you refrain from offering to help - i would hate to see somebody get hurt doing this.
thanks

No problem I will help you, also I still have sleigh build from 4x4 in my garage witch one was use last time to bring downstairs my 350 gall tank, those sleigh can hold on their bed tank size up to 84”x24” maybe even 84”x36” height doesn’t matter. In my situation I use plywood on my hardwood stairs to protect them from scratching and my 900 lb. was slid down like a babe on banana skin. Only you have to organize some plywood if you plan to use those sleigh to put on stairs because right now I do not have any in my garage.
Is that help let me know?

I have seen and bought frags from Chin Lee and he has beautiful coral so what a great chance to get some great coral frags for some muscle power Calgarians.

If we help, do we get corals with respect to the amount of muscle we can contribute? Or is it a set rate? :P

If you get stuck and need another person, you can PM

Chin, I would be glad to help out. I know the lay out and it will be a tough move, unless we use the sleigh idea as the stairs are narrow and will only get one person top and one person bottom, and the guy on the botom beter be a gorilla. A sleigh with people pulling from the top would probably be the best idea. Need sleigh, rope, ply and people in my opinion.
Glad to help if needed.

thanks all. I really appreciate the help being offered by all and I will provide an update as time gets closer.

FYI - I have decided to use the sleigh idea because it will permit multiple individuals to assist from the top and bottom. The stairs are ceramic tiles so I will line the plywood bottom with smooth carpet to decrease friction as well as protecting the tiles. I will also strap the tank to the sleigh.

Pokolec - thanks for the offer of your sleigh but I'll build my own because then I can customize it to the exact size of the tank and bring it home with me (i'll need to bring it down 10 stairs when I get home too  ) I will reuse the supplies for my stand as well.

Emily - i would love to spend time with some Calgarians but its going to be a dine and dash trip for me.

Ruth - thanks for the comments!!

OK everyone
I've set the date for Friday April 28. My plans so far is as follows:
0800 hrs- Rent van
0830 - 0900 hrs - Leave Surrey area
1900-2000 hrs - Arrive in Calgary but I will start calling people when I'm about 80-100 km out of town which will be about an hour before I arrive at Cody's (Stinky) house.

I would like about 5 people to help out so I'll be sending PMs to all those who have graciously offered to assist.

Thank you again.
