I'm interested in setting up a 12g nano tank and am interested in either a JBJ Deluxe Nanocube or an Aquapod.

Does anyone have any feedback on either of these two set-ups?

Specs that I have located:
JBJ - 12 gallon glass, 2x24W CF and LED lighting, 106GPH flowrate, cooling fans and built-in 3 stage filtration
Aquapod - 12 gallon glass, 2x27W "SunPaq Lamps" and LED lighting, 160GPH flowrate, cooling fans, integrated filtration system.

I am "downgrading" to a 12 gallon from my 36 as I'm moving to a smaller location. I want mainly an invertebrate tank with a coral or two and a fish.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Some of the 12g Aquapods got recalled. See the thread that Willow posted for details. I have ordered a 24g Aquapod so we will see how it arrives and what the lighting situation is.

Be careful. The JBJ uses pretty crappy electrical components. The ballast they put in the 6 gallon is horrible (plastic case). Mine melted. Also look at what replacement parts are available. They don't have certain peices that you can replace so you have to order bigger peices. Like in my case. To fix the ballast with there parts I have to buy a new hood.
Just something to look out for.

I just recieved my new 20g Finnex Nano yesterday and it is pretty sweet. I'll try to post pictures later. I am going to set it up at work to replace my 12g JBJ. I got the one with the 150W MH combo light.

Hi, I'm new to this site as I was trying to find a British Columbia related reef site, and I was even more pleased when I found the nano forum. Anyhow;

I have a 2006 JBJ 24G DX Nanocube, and I am very pleased with it. They seem more commonly modded and altered than the auqapod from what I've commonly read. Both tanks seem to have their pros and cons, ie: the problems with 2005 model 24g tanks cracking, but I still believe this is due to the bow front, and people putting them on not so level surfaces... The other problem, the stock pump needs to be replaced. Mine started crapping out after about 10 hours when I first plugged it in when first testing for leaks. Easily replaced with a Maxijet 1200, and used the stock one for mixing s/w.

http://www.nanocustoms.com is a very neat site for mods, and parts. I ordered my NanoCube from J&L Aquatics in Vancouver. Another site I would suggest, is http://www.nano-reef.com .. very very helpful community of nano-reefers.

Sorry for rambling, but I find nano reefs a very interesting subject that I seem to spend all my spare time learning everything I can.

Thanks everyone!
I was able to procure a 12g JBJ DX nano. I think you are all right, they both have pros and cons. But being armed with knowledge is the best way to head off future problems. I went with this one because I was able to get a slightly used one.

I've filled it with water and have started to move some of my live rock from my large tank into it and will slowly be starting to stock it as I pull down the larger tank.

I will take a look at the links for mods.

I'm looking forward to sharing my progress with everyone!
