In before all the damsel posts!

Clowns are very tough and look nice also. :)

Firefish, clown goby, chromis, bi-color blenny, all make nice nano fish and all pretty hardy

Here is some examples http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=2124

Yellowheaded jawfish also has needs which are not compatible with a first timer - 6" sandbed would not be something a beginner should be trying to provide.

I'll probably get chastised, but some of the dwarf/pygmy angels would do nicely in a 33.
