...you plan and research...decide on a breed that will fit in with your family..then, you visit the local SPCA to license the other dog..... DISASTER! You see all these faces staring at you from their kennels, and you lose all the research, and planning for that very very expensive purebred and make a unwanted pet...WANTED! We were lucky enough to be able to foster "PC" in our home for 7 days as she had some medical issues and then we were approved for complete adoption. We have renamed her "Doris", she is a 9 month old, spayed female, Old English Bulldog x American Pitbull. Oh, and when you look at the pictures...don't be fooled...both of her eyes are the same size. Around one eye she has dark brown coloration and the other eye has none...kind of like an optical (no pun intended) illusion!

I have rescued 2 purebred english bulldogs, after years of spanials, I would never (well never say never) go back. They are big babies all their life! Good for you for saving another beautiful dog! I was given a LONG list of their problems with the first rescue, can happily say, never experianced 99% of them.

Congrats!

So cute! I wanted an english bull dog for my dog, but we decided we needed something non-shedding for cleanliness, and low skin shedding for allergies, so we have a 9.5 month old Labradoodle named Auzzie.

Hey Everyone! THANKS!!! She is housebroken....pretty much. She lived in her crate most of the time in her old home, but thankfully she doesn't have a bunch of behavior issues. We had actually looked into Labradoodles, and French Bulldogs~ Love both of the dogs but...sometimes you just have to rethink things. "Doris" is really good with our 2 year old which was the most important thing to us. We have a mini dachshund and boy can I tell you they are not the best for kids. And a really really quick learner too which is good. My Aunt had an Old English for years and what a great dog it was. I do know that having the combination of breeds we will get past some of the health troubles that sometimes plague different purebreds. All in all she is a perfect fit! OOPS except that the Dachshund HATES her. Not surprising but hopefully she will learn to tolerate her.

Nice looking dog but I'm a small dog guy. The "Lawn Cigars" are smaller and much easier to pick up everyday
