Just received this bulb in the mail from Malaysia, isn't available in Canada or the US yet. Will post more pics after the initial burn-in period

It wasn't that bad, like $85 + change. I have to admit it was a risk though, buying stuff from overseas from an ebay dealer isn't exactly the safest bet. Now that it has arrived successfully, I would purchase it again in a second.

BLV is the european branding for Ushio (same product but marketed differently in Europe). Ushio has not put out a 14K bulb or any higher K bulb for that matter ever, and since their 10K has been so successful for so many years, they have the reputation and quality behind them to put out a nice higher K bulb.
I have actually located the Ushio 14K bulb in the states at reefgeek.com, but this was after I purchased the BLV. Same difference though, and I'm anxiously awaiting to see how these burn in.

Who is the eBay seller? Thanks.
Those are supposed to be very nice bulbs - I might see if I can find some while I am on holidays and have them shipped back to me.

He has both SE and DE bulbs for sale. Obviously the guy on RC is trying to rip people off.

The 20K is great for color, but I wanted more growth. If you have 3 13K bulbs, why not put a 20K in the middle (I assume they are all running side by side)? That would be a perfect balance IMO if you want more blue.
Not that I'm trying to sell you my bulb or anything :D

Just an update, but the bulb has started to really whiten up. Don't see any blues yet, but the original yellow burn-in color is subsiding. That is normal from what I hear from other fellow reefers with experiencing this bulb.
If you don't want to pay for shipping, you can get this bulb from reefgeek.com but it's marketed as Ushio:

Just thought I would update everyone on this bulb. After the initial burn-in, the color is a nice crisp white. My SPS colors are also starting to "pop" with this bulb!
Anyone interested in trying this bulb should give it a try :)
