Hey everyone. I'm on Jeff's Exotic Fish's mailing list and here's their big July 4th sale announcement.

If you are interested in ordering stuff, now's the time. Our dollar is not too bad, and I've dealt with Jeff's a couple times before and gotten great product and service. Just wanted to let everyone know:

I myself have purchased drygoods via mail-order from Jeff's, and have visited their facility when I was in L.A. for a few days. Nice place, unless anything has changed in the last few years I can vouch for them having good products and service..

One question though. I didn't think we could order CITES stuff. I.e., clams, corals. Have you ordered CITES listed livestock from Jeff's? How did that work out, do they charge extra for any CITES permits and documentations? Minimum order, anything like that?

Hi Andrew,

Have you ordered anything live from Jeff? Or basically just dry goods. How bad is the shipping (and brokage fee)?

I will shamefully admit that I did not know about Cities a year ago when I placed my orders. I recieved two boxes of live rock one time, and corals, snails, fish and clams another time.

I utilized the military policy, "don't ask, don't tell" both times.

Was asked about the "critters" the second time, and said I bought them in Canada earlier in the day before crossing the line for gas. "What do you want with snails?" "They are for my aquarium", "Ok, have a good day". ;)

Forgot to add that both times I had my orders shipped to US addresses, not directly to me so didn't have to deal with customs/brokerage fees.

Live rock was shipped air cargo, picked up at the airport in Bellingham next morning. Livestock was shipped to my mailing address in Blaine, picked up next morning.
