Well did you know:

The TransAlta Stage is the largest outdoor production facility of its kind anywhere in the world. The cost of the project was in excess of $6 million.

During the Stampede, approximately 1,844,286 Mini Donuts are consumed.

Caravan Committee Stampede Breakfasts consume more that five tons of pancake batter, two tons of bacon and sausage, 5,000 bottles of pancake syrup and 85,000 containers of juice.

Harry the Horse Mascot makes 75 appearances during the 10 days of Stampede and wears size 38.5 shoes.

The Calgary Stampede is Canada's largest annual event.

In October 2005, the rodeo prize money was increased to $1.6 million with $1 million of that being paid out on Final Showdown Sunday.

In 2005, attendance for the 10-day event was 1,242,928.

The Stampede Casino needs nearly six tons of coins to open and operate.

Calgary's economic benefit from the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede is $300 million annually.

Some of these facts really gross me out!

Sorry to burst your bubble but Edmonton doesnt even have the worlds largest mall anymore . Beijing's Golden Resources Shopping Mall, opened in October 2004, is the world's largest. And this year an even bigger one is opening in United Arab Emirates. And Berjaya Times Square is Malasia is also bigger then West Ed so i guess you guys have to settle for 4th. Oh yeah and GO Flames Go.

It never was the "worlds" largest, only the largest in north america.. but I hear they are planning on building one in the US that is even bigger.

Considering the Oriental Plaza was built in the 70's and has a total area of 800 000 m^2 I would say you are wrong.. I was a Edmontonian for most of my life and I am just as big of a chest thumper as any other Albertan and I will be moving back when I retire but lets keep our chest thumping backed with facts.. and yes this means Calgarians cannot talk about wanting a professional hockey team anymore:wink:

I beg to differ! West Ed is the largest mall in the world, unless the Dubai mall is actually completed larger in 2008.

I never said the oriental plaza wasnt bigger. I said west edmonton mall was the worlds largest for nearly 20 years, since oriental plaza was opened in 2000. May be we should use facts here.http://www.wcities.com/en/record/229,46496/78/record.html
And Oriental plaza is almost half office space as well as residential housing.

And this doesnt look like a building that was built in the 70s
