I know the normal mixing method is water and Kalk, but can it also be done mixing it with saltwater? Will the saltwater produce the same results.

I have tried this before. It was more cloudy than fresh water. Are you talking about just dumping Kalk into the tank or using salt water instead of fresh for your drip?

The latter, just using saltwater to mix instead of freshwater. If it's OK, I will run saltwater for my Kalk reactor.

Is that the one Deb had advertised? BTW, do you have anyomore frags available?

why would you want to?

and no it will not mix near as good or in as high of a concentration.

Keep in mind my 40% score on the chemistry test but won't it percipitate (sp) out being that you are taking water already high in calcium and adding to another environment yet higher in calcium?

A precipitate depends on the concentration of Kalk and the other elements in the salt water. Sometimes I'll add a little bit to my water change water just to boost the CA I'm adding, but I usually have to add CaCo2 to bring the Ph back down.

I guess that answers my question. Freshwater it is.
