Anyone interested in a Group Salt Buy?

tbone

how much will a pail be around? are they 200gallon buckets? or 160gallons?

michika

Where are you buying from?

Psyire
01-04-2006, 08:40 PM
Kent comes in 200g buckets.

Not sure where I'll buy from yet, whoever is cheapest I guess. It's just salt right?

Psyire
01-04-2006, 08:40 PM
I imagine they will be right around the $50 mark.

michika
01-04-2006, 09:44 PM
Depending on whom your purchasing from, I'd probably be in for a pail!

tbone

i'll get a pail as well. no rush
i'm also looking for a pump. so let me know where your getting it.

Why does this happen right after I just bought a pail? *laugh*.

I MIGHT get another pail, depending on the price.

Psyire
01-05-2006, 05:46 PM
So that's 16-17 pails. We need 24 for a pallet. Anyone else interested?

michika
01-05-2006, 05:47 PM

I might be able to get you guys a deal, i will let you all know more tonight

Psyire

I wasn't going to find a definite source unless we actually have met the demand for a pallet. Otherwise it's just a waste of time.

I think more people would join in if there was a definit source/price?

michika
01-06-2006, 12:03 AM
Well the pail I'm willing to purchase isn't a for sure yes, because there are particular vendors/stores that I won't spend my money in. As soon as you know, I'll give you a definate answer on if I'm in or not.

Beverly
01-07-2006, 02:15 AM
I'd be in for six 200g pails of Kent.

Psyire
01-08-2006, 01:48 AM
Well that puts us very close to a pallet. I'll start searching out a source and price.

tbone
01-11-2006, 05:31 PM
so whats the status of the Group Salt buy?

Psyire
01-11-2006, 07:45 PM
Sorry, I've been trying to find time to get some prices but I'm in the middle of a 7 day, 84hr stretch of work. If someone else has time to look around for prices that would be cool, otherwise I should be able to have something figured out next week.

Psyire
01-23-2006, 08:42 PM
Alright so I'm trying to get this inline now that I have a few days off.

How does $56.50/pail sound? Shipped & Tax included.

This would be drop shipped from directly from Kent.

Beverly
01-23-2006, 09:55 PM
Almost sounds too good to be true, but sounds kind of good :) Is that in Canadian or US dollars? Who would the shipper be? To what location would they ship?

Psyire
01-23-2006, 10:25 PM
Canadian Dollars. Scott @ Island Pet Zone is who is arranging it through Kent. If we still have enough people then I will call him and work out the finer details.

Here's the tricky part. I don't live in Edmonton. So to get it drop shipped to me, would be probably more expensive in shipping, as I'm in a small rural town. Things would probably be much easier if someone in the city would be able to have it dropped at their place instead. There probably won't be too many pickups, as I'd be taking 16 pails myself.

I'm not sure who the shipper would be, but I'll make sure there won't be any additional charges such as brokerage. $56.50 total is what I want to pay.

Anyone willing to store a pallet of Kent for a few days?

Matt
01-23-2006, 11:11 PM
At that price, I'd buy 2 200g pails.

Matthew

i'm still in for 1 pail

Beverly
01-24-2006, 01:17 AM
I'm still in for six 200g pails. Might take more pails if you fall short of the full pallet.

Never heard of Island Pet Zone. Where are they located?

Would like to volunteer to store the pallet of salt, only we live in a condo and have no place to store it. Any other volunteers?

Dad
01-24-2006, 01:50 AM
I will take two pails

Psyire
01-24-2006, 01:57 AM
Island Pet Zone is in Duncan, B.C.

I don't think we'll be short on the pallet, but we do need someplace for it to be shipped to...

Though I'm good for salt (still got 6 fr BA, Boxing Day), if you want, can drop of at my work. We've got a warehouse, forklift and a shipper/receiver 8-4/M-F. I live not that far from work so could distribute one evening or on the weekend.

If you get IO, I would be in. As a bonus, the skids could be stored in my garage as well.

For 160g pails of IO to be competitive in price with the $56.50 200g pails of Kent, the IO price would have to be $45.20 including shipping and GST. Just thought you folks would like to know that.

If the IO pails are 200g, you're getting a fantastic deal :)

Psyire
01-25-2006, 09:11 PM
IO, is not something I want to use...

Is it too late to get 2 pails of Kent?

Psyire
01-25-2006, 10:23 PM
Here's the info.

200g Kent Salt Bucket: $52.77 + GST.

Dropped shipped directly from Kent to Edmonton. (@ Mark's Warehouse)

Scott @ Island Pet Zone is setting it up through his distributor.

Payment to be made by each individual directly to Scott via. Internet Money Transfer. (easily done through online banking)

This is easiest as I don't want to handle the money and make the whole payment.

Pallet's must be shipped with 24 pails. So after the first 24 pails are gone, another 24 would have to be spoken for before they would ship.

Scott is going to post his email address later today and then will start accepting payments until 24 pails are paid for. Then that pallet will ship. If there is enough interest to warrant another pallet then people can proceed to order again.

The salt should be in Edmonton in 5-7 business days from day of completed order.

If you have any questions, post them.. or PM me or Scott (IPZ).

*For those who like Instant Ocean, a similar arrangement could be made, but the pallets are 36 pails so you need more interest. (I imagine these are 160g pails)

Psyire
01-25-2006, 10:25 PM
I'll be taking 16 pails, so there is 8 more to go to fill a pallet order.

Beverly
01-25-2006, 10:37 PM
I'm taking 6 pails.

Looking forward to hearing from Scott at IPZ.

tbone

seems like there are more then 24 pails being ordered.
so how's this going to work out? first one first serve?

Psyire
01-26-2006, 01:39 AM
Yes, unfortunately we can't afford to have people say they want one and then take a week to pay. So Scott will take payments until 24 pails are paid for. Then a pallet will ship. After that, I think we can compile a list on this thread and see how close to a second pallet we are. This isn't a one time deal or offer, unless things like prices change, we'll be able to get this deal on 24 pails at any time. (or so I understand)

Hello Edmonton Reefers!

It seems that Craig has pretty much summed it up as far as this is going to work. He has spoken for 16 pails and that would leave 8 remaining on this skid.
Please E'mail me at scotty_b@shaw.ca with how many buckets you want as well as a password for the e'mail money transfer.
If you miss getting in on this deal, I can easily arrange more skids. Skids hold 24 buckets, so based on the intrest level, another one should be easy to arrange.

Qustions? ......... e'mail me at the above address or pm me.

Cheers...
Scott
Island Pet Zone

PS .... If others would like IO, this can be arranged as well. the cost would be about $46 gst and shipping included. ( give or take a buck or so). The only small drawback is the price is based on a full skid of 36 buckets. The less we ship the more freight per bucket.

What about credit card payments rather then money transfers?

Psyire
01-26-2006, 05:16 AM
Mark was nice enough to allow this pallet to be dropped at his warehouse but I'd like to say that I've only cleared this one pallet with him. If there happens to be more pallet's ordered someone will have to talk to him about it, or have it dropped somewhere else. (just wanted this to be known)

Just picked up our six pails of 200g Kent salt today

I notice only a few people were in on this first pallet. I'm willing to get another pallet going and will order six more pails if there is enough interest.

Those who are not able to do the bank transfer, as IPZ prefers, can pay me the cash and I will transfer their money for them. PM me if that is the way you need to pay.

Who's in

Psyire

I'd like to thank the people who made this last pallet possible.

Scott, Mark, Bev, & Matt !!

Great deal and it all went smoothly.

michika
02-13-2006, 02:22 AM
Psyire,

I'm with Amicus. They charge you a transaction fee to do the transfer, and a transaction fee when the recipient picks up the funds. This feature on top of the costs of sending/reciving, is only available to the more lucrative clients. E.g. those who make over amount x per year, and don't have student status. At least this is how the representative explained it to me when I called to ask.

Bev,

Depending on when this next pallet may come in, I would consider putting in for a pail, possibly two. Thank you very much for the offer. I'll contact you if purchasing for this next set is possible for me.

Beverly
02-13-2006, 02:53 AM
Catherine,

By the overwhelming (cough  ) response I've gotten so far, it may be awhile before another pallet can be put together. Where are all those people who expressed interest in the first pallet??

In light of some developments I have decided not to order Kent Salt. Maybe in a few months I'll be interested again.

P.S. I can still be a drop point for the shipping if others are still interested.
