It`s worth the airfare just to go to the aquarium. How nice it would be to live on the ocean and have an unlimited amount of water coming into your tank. I do believe though that they have sand filters before it comes in. Perfect water paramiters for your inhabitants and no salt to buy.

I was just there in november and I was a little dissappointed with the aquarium. A TON of nuisance algaes and a bunch of the tanks looked poorly maintained.

I didn't take any pics, forgot my camera for the whole trip :(

you had the same impression I had last summer when i was there. although it was impressive most of the displays were closed and it was a very small aquarium, took me an hour to see it all and I was moving slow. still for the 8 bucks it was cool to see as some of the stuff was amazing. I found there indor salt water tanks were way more colorfull then the out door ones also.

but all in all if you are there go see it but I would not say it is worth the airline ticket in anymeans to see it. there is a better place around the side of the island. can remember the name and it is pricy as it is a marine reaserch center and they do different kinds of tours. I would add that to my list of "to see" also.

ya but the amount of people there makes it hard to just sit there and stare, but I will say I did spend about 1/2 my time in the ocean pond taking pics of the fish with my polerizing lenze.

I agree that the waikiki aquarium wasnt as great as I expected it to be, but nonetheless they had some neat stuff. I guess I'm just used to the Vancouver Aquarium which is pretty good. I loved that seahorse and thier cuttlefish were really neat too. :D

Nice pics tho... dont I wish I could have an outdoor reef tank like that!

Thanks for posting the pics! Very nice!

That sea dragon is fairly impressive! (The sea dragon is the thing that looks like a seahorse with branches, lol) They also come with a fairly impressive price tag in the thousands(I've hears around 10 retail, might be lower from suppliers).
