Hiding under a rock. Could be stressed or could be splitting. How was the colour? bleeched at all?

I would strongly suspect it has decided to move. You probably won't like its new spot, but they seem to think they know best. They often move into powerheads. You can hope that was not the case.

really it only takes like 4 hours for them to split? i thought it would be a day or 2 process?

I doubt it has split, if it's in the same spot it was before all this happened. My guess.. if the rock it's placed it's foot in has a nice hole or crack in it, the anemone most likely shrunk right up to re-inflate itself. My guess..

I've got a green carpet that is more than 8" across. When the moment hits, he disappears into the sand...reducing to the size of a loony in about 10 seconds.
