It's that time of the year and I would like to get me something nice. Well a coral book would be a great idea  Any recommendation on a great book(s)?

Julian Sprung and Charles delBeek's set of 3 books is the most comprehensive reading available to the hobbyist, but may be over the head of someone just getting into the hobby... (Credit Canreef's own Christy for the cover photo on the latest book!). John Tullock's Natural Reef Aquariums is a great book, and I also have Reef Secrets by Nilsen and Fossa... I think the best periodical is Coral magazine, as it tends to give more up to date info on the hobby from a worldwide perspective.

How can one subscribe to that magazine? Any idea on the price and how frequent the issues are published?

Out of the books that you do have, is there any that is specific to coral husbandry in captivity? I am sort of looking for something to identity all the different corals of the world, if that is even possible. Any suggestions?

Coral Magazine is published 6 times during the year. I guess that would make it every second month. It is a lot cheaper to buy the magazine per issue than to subscribe to it. (unless you live in the states or can get it delivered to a US Postal Box.) It can be had at Aquarium Illusions or Ocean Aquatics that I know of. Maybe if you pester Albert enough he will look into bringing it in if he hasn't already..

That one and "Corals - A Quick Reference Guide" by Julian Sprung is good too... excellent placement tips, and a quick easy to use visual guide...

I'm lucky - one of my LFS gets them in and saves me a copy... he sells 'em for 10 bucks...

Thanks for the info on the mags. As for the that book you suggested, I already have, it's a great book. I guess, what I am now looking for is something that is more for indentification purposes. If you will, a book that is detailed in pictures as well as describing the origin, location, etc.

In Calgary, the Coral Magazine was available at Wai's the last time I was there.

Buy one off the rack and there will be a subscription form in it.
Or go to http://www.coralmagazine.com/
Canadian subscription costs $61.50 US.
Published bi-monthly. (Six issues/year).
