yes it is a fire and ice zoo.. but it is a poor picture of it... I dont' think the lighting does it justice.

Red skirt (fire) - Without the red skirt, I believe it's Aspen or Babyback.. depending on texture of face.

Blue Face (Ice) - Without the blue face.. it can be Sunburst, Ring of Fire, Orange delight.

Green mouth - final requirement for Fire and Ice zoo.. without the green mouth it is a morph of celestial.

I have one that looks similar, but has a yellowish/green mouth. What should i call it.

Compiling pictures of zoos under various lighting conditions with all their naming "variations" and morphs.. and giving them standard generally accepted names.

I have over 2000 pictures right now, and perhaps 150 varieties.

We considered the possibility of setting up an area where people could publicly post the zoos they have to trade, and the zoos they are willing to accept in trade.

I've also been talking with other zoo fanatics to determine optimal growth conditions for zoos as well as environment modifiers that effect the way a zoo will look. ie:// long skirts - short skirts, color brilliance. I don't want information based on a reefers opinions. i want it based from valid research.

It's still in process however.

Bob, post a pic and I can try to ID it for you.

Orange Delight. mottled white face. greenish yellow mouth, Red/orange skirt.

I have different names for this one at home. Alot of people took a crack at naming this one. :)

Actually the second one is a completely different zoanthid. The skirt is much browner. I have them side by side in my tank, and there is no comparison.

For all intensive purposes, while they might look “completely different” to your naked eye, they both share the characteristics of an Orange Delight Zoanthid. I stand by that. Any deviances you may perceive in your zoo are not drastic enough to denote another zoanthid name, rather it would be considered just a morph. It would be like saying a misbarred clownfish could no longer be called a clownfish. Thankfully the hobby is not that anal in this regard. 

Also note, any relatively experienced coral enthusiast knows that the same coral will look slightly different under different lights, taken with different cameras and in different tanks. The second picture could easily be tweeked to look near identical to the top picture with an 10 sec adjustment to Gamma and contrast.

Too much technicality for some zoanthids if you asked me. Zoos are zoos are zoos are zoos.. they're all nice (for the most part) and they can all just as easily be classified as premium and as high quality if we didn't know any better.... of course this is IMO .

WHy are you all in such a hurry to incriminate something that Xtasia is spending her own time and effort into?

So ivy is your avatar pink rim people eaters? or red people eaters? I think that while its pretty easy to just call them by color ie. pink skirt, maroon disk, green mouth.I also think some should have a name because of rarity and popularity, and thats why they have a standard name. Its kinda stupid how it can jack a price up tho.

Gosh, I swore I thought I said "IMO" ... ?

All the power to you .. I wasn't saying anything bad about what she's doing at all. Just too much technicality **IMO**.

I would call the zoo in my profile picture a Pink Rimmed Red People Eater. That perfectly describes it's size, color and special attributes. Someone could call it pink skirt, maroon disk and green mouth but why would i trust that person's preception of "pink", "maroon", or "red". Often pink, red, orange, maroon are just nice ways of saying brown.

Given your naming standard.. What would be the difference between these.. "Yellow skirt, Orange mouth" Zoos.

Personally it would matter to me which one of these I got! Some are definitely nicer than others. Naming standards give people an idea of what to expect. Take for Superman Danae... I bet you were able to form an immediate mental image of what I'm talking about or can google it with ease.. right? That's the power of a NAME! I think all zoos, regardless of "quality" should be this easy to research.

I'm definitely a zoo enthusiast. I want to know exactly what zoo I'm trading for. I'm fascinated by zoos, and all their colors! I've told people about my big project and they've been nothing but supportive of it. What's even better is I have a talented webdesigner (designer of the gorgeous ReefBC website) to help me implement it!

Meh, if you aren't interested then don't look. The internet is cool that way.

BTW: Thanks King Albert. Support is always good :)

Xtasia, is the Zoaid.com the website you are doing? or is this another one all together different?

Xtasia

Different.. Zo-aid doesn't update often enough and misses a ton of varieties. Good website but only pulls it's pictures from Reefcentral and zoosrus.

No i wasnt being non supportive, ive been into zoa's for years and the names of such zoa's for years, its good you are doing this.I think zoaid.com is kinda lacking info and morphs...

One thing thats going to be hard is the lacking info on what lighting make's what zoa look like what?Zoaid has just pics,no acuall explaination as where they are from, ect. They dont even seperate protopalythoa's,and zoanthids.
