Interesting how a piece of coral can change so much in a day of shipping?
Here is the picture from J&L's website of the blue acro.

Here is how it looked when I got it and still does.

My feeling is this coral was misrepresented but the more important question is how can I get it to look like their picture?

With incredibly intense actinic lighting and by somehow installing Adobe Photoshop onto the front glass of your tank.....

I actually saw that acro when I was in JL's. It looked exactly as pictured. My guess is that the stress of shipping browned out the coral.

Well I'm glad to hear that it did look that once. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I have had other stuff come to me by air before and it was always ok when I got it. Maybe they need to look at another courier.
Thanks,

It is not uncommon at all for an acro to lose a lot of its colour during shipping.. I'm sure under the right conditions, it'll be back in a couple weeks.. Nice piece!

This time of year, shipping corals is very hard on them. If they dont show up in a block of Ice, I'd say your lucky

i think thats gonna take a couple of months for it to color back up. they can deteoriate as much in 24 hours but 2-4 months for them to recover.

What kind of lighting setup do you have? I know in the tank they keep the acros, they have 400W MH's. And I think they have VHO Actinics in there too.

And do you have a CA Reactor running?

I don't have 400's but I don't have a colour problem with other acros. My problem is it was brown when I got it. When I order from other places and have the stuff delivered it has never been as bad as that piece and the colour comes back the same week.
