View Full Version : Cleaner Shrimp Dissapearance(sp?)

Hey all my Cleaning shrimp have vanished of the last 2 days, I think they have been eaten since their are no bodies in my tank....What could have done this...My shrimp were about an 1" to 1 1/2" long!!

Signapore angle, 4x Chromis, Lemon Peel Angle, Mandrin Goby, 2x Tomato Clowns, Oscilaris Clown(sp?), Regal Tang, Six line, And a lunar Wrasse I believe, Blue Hermits, sand star, and I think thats about it

Any chance they just molted and are hiding?

My coral banded shrimp have chowed down on every cleaner i tried to add (3 of them I think). I have heard of wrasses going after them too but again it could just have molted however usually you see the shell floating around.

My shrimp were huge...I have always been able to see them before, now I can see neither nore can I even see any molts!!

Kevin forgot to add, 2x fromia, and a small gorrilla crab (3/4" in diameter). We thought at first the gorrilla crab did it, but the shrimp were both much larger then the crab; they've also avoided the crab sucessfully for 3 months.

They have been known to do that.

I'm not sure of anything, other then the fact that shrimp are many dollars...

kid bro still has all his shrimp. had them in the same tank.

Wrasse has a small mouth too...shrimp were as large as I've ever seen them get...

The shrimp were/are both over half the size of the wrasse. The fish is about 5" long, and the shrimp were both at least 2"

im sure the wrasse could polish a shrimp off in a matter of minutes if he so decided too.

did all the shrimp disappear at once?

Nope, they were both there, and then the day before yesterday, Tuesday, on of them was just sitting on my clam out in the open. I couldn't find the second one at that time. Then yesterday I couldn't find the other one.

They were the first inverts I put in my tank :cry:
