That first does not look like a ricordia. I say that because I had those, and mine was just a fairly common Mushroom.

I would not mind getting a hold of some of the others though

My fault. I just posted all his mushroom pics at 1 in the morning so I didn't pay much attention to whether they were rics or not. Oooops.

That is a great looking mushroom in a close up picture. It is sad they don't look like that in real life

At least the rock full of them I boarded for someone didn't

I don't know why I respond to this, but to clarify what I said. I had a rock full of those. They were only about an inch, and to see those purple dots a person had to press their face to the glass. People don't normally do that. Therefore I say that a picture on your computer monitor looks a lot better than the real thing in a tank.

ugh.. i think you have an issue with macros, that's all.

Time to return to the real thread.

That is how they look in real life, not macro life. Sure the blue dots are small and you wouldn't notice them standing 10 feet away from the tank but thats what they look like with all the lights on. That shot is taken about 2 inches from the glass and the rock is about another 5 inches further back in the tank. The rock is about 6-7 inches by 4 inches and is full of orange zoos and mushrooms.

cheers

hey bob some of us do sit right in from of our tanks and watch the inner workings of our reefs in close detail. so yeah some of us do appreciate the fine details of what our corals look like in "macro".

OCDP

i sit in front of my tank daily.. and stare, stare, stare... seeing things close up makes it so much more interesting, noticing smaller details , etc.

like i said... bobby boy has macro issues

Well .......Bob caught me. I must confess. I actually sat there and painted them one dot at a time. They are realy just brown mushrooms.
I guess 3 years at Emily Carr art school paid off.

I also do balloon animals and magic tricks.

I have a blue Ricordia I got from Callum...and it really does look like that (but of course when I sit for hours in front of the tank with my nose pressed to the glass it looks even more amazing!)...will post a pic...here's one I got from Ken and Linny at Aquareef in Campbell River...YES I did say Campbell River..it can happen!
