I'm not sure if you all know the type of stand I am using to light my tank, but here are some pictures:

What I want to do now, is add some actinic lighting. I have an Aqualight with the 10k and actinic bulbs... so I have ballasts and bulbs, but how on earth (if any way) can I get the actinics over the tank? I really want actinics now ... so if there's any suggestions/ideas out there I am all ears, thanks for any help!

You could always get a canopy constructed.

This is true... there's one option.

Is there any how do I put this "ghetto" ways of just somehow hanging the light or something? hmmm, think scott.. think

It looks like pcv that is holding your light up now. Just buy some more pvc fittings and pipe and add to it

That would be an option but all PVC pieces are glued with that plsatic cement stuff.. haha, doh? I guess I will have to take apart my aqualight, get the ballast out and fool around.. see if i can not just suspend the bulb and wire from the top of the PVC or something.... just can't get my brain to come up with very many ideas at the moment.

You cut the pipe where you want to add the attintics, then add a T and do the same on the other side. The only thing you want to watch for is on the right side(I think) is where they are running the wires inside the pvc. So use a pipe cutter so you do not cut the wires.

Hey there's an idea.. thanks, see my brain isn't working properly hah, I would have never thought to cut the pipe and add a T, but then how does the bulb stay in the open hole? errr, I am such a construction, DIY dummy

I would run a piece of pipe right across like the other one then drill holes to mount the bulb holders and you are done

Thank you nemo for your suggestions, really appreciate it! Now I at least have an idea of how to get some actinics going

Until I can get out for more PVC I will try and do a ghetto temporary hang-type structure going on.. if all else fails I will just hold off til I get more PVC.

Thanks again,

Scott
