I want better lighting for my 118 gallon. It's 5 feet long, 2 feet wide and 1.5 feet deep. I currently have a 5.5 foot ballast with 2 regular flourescents running end to end, and a 2-24 inch T5's, one actinic and one 10,000. The softies I have right now seem to be doing fine, but my toadstool was about twice the height in its previous owner's tank.

Anyone know what I should add? I'm not in the position right now to drop $500 on lights, does anyone have something I may be interested in?

Thanks!

my suggestion would be to pick up a 250 or 400 watt ballast and socket and pop one MH in the middle. i don't have any extras but you should be able to get the ballast and socket used (cheap) and then just buy a 65 or 10k bulb.

Hi,

What's your budget and do you see yourself venturing towards SPS in the future?

No SPS in my future...I'm planning to stick with softies.
